WOW. It has been a long time since I have seen a movie this entertaining. Not in the usual ways either, this comedy/drama combines elements that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. It brings you together with this crazed family and takes you through the story of this young girl and her 'mentally-unstable' father. This film creates quite an unforgetable experience and makes us remember that it is important to have fun in life. Michael Douglas creates a motivational performance of an elderly man released from the loony-bin and provides a nice contrast to Evan Rachel Wood's character who is there to hold everything in place. Anyone interested in seeing a flick that's not highly commercialized and has some good themes behind it should check this one out. Although it's not for everyone, it still wraps in 7 treasure hunters out of 10.
If you saw Open Water, then you know what to expect from this one. Let's just say that, well, it's common knowledge that sequels are never as good as the originals. But in a case where the original wasn't very good either, and you shell out a direct-to-dvd release just to rake in the dollars, it is not going to be very good. The concept isn't too bad. A group of sailors forge their way through the open waters in a yacht to get away from the world and end up stranded in the water. Ok that's fine. Oh wait, there is more! They are stranded, just outside of the yacht! Catchy right!........No. Not by a long shot. To find out why you should not see this movie and you should not spend the money or time watching this horribly put together follow up to a decent indie film, read the extended review after the jump.
Will Ferrell’s latest sports comedy hurtled towards the big screen and, even though it hit the top spot, didn’t fare very well, so there must be a connection between that and the fact that Semi-Pro is only 6 in the Pro stakes out of the possible 10. Find out why after the jump.
A seventeen year old rich kid is expelled from a private school and is forced to attend public school after all he wants to do is become popular. He ends up becoming the most popular student at his new school and basically, helping all the kids with their lives. To find out why this movie is one of the must-see movies of the new year, read the extended review after the jump. A 9 out of 10.

What's the last monster movie you've seen? Godzilla? Well, movies are new but the stories never change, so J.J. Abrams and his production team at Bad Robot decided that America needed their own monster movie, not only that though, it had to be different than the rest, so they came up with Cloverfield. A monster attacks New York City. So what? We've seen it before. Not this way. The way they tell the story is completely different than any other movie I have seen. To learn why this movie scares 8 little kids out of 10, read the extended review after the jump.
People have had mixed feelings about this film. Mos Def + Jack Black + Michel Gondry = Something at least worth the ticket price. The imdb film summary got people laughing out loud, and who can blame them: A man whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films, which include Back to the Future, The Lion King, and Robocop. So what means that Be Kind has only Rewound 8 out of 10? Find out in the extended review after the jump.

I originally intended to begin this review by saying something along the lines of, "Movies today, get more and more unique" but that was before I learned that Vantage Point was rumored to be a rip of Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon. I haven't seen the 1950 film but after reading the plot outline on IMDB it has the same basic concept. Something happens, in the case of Vantage Point, a presidential assassination, then we tell the story 8 different times (4 for Rashomon) from different perspectives. Interesting concept, and it works pretty well for Vantage Point, except for the fact that the first four perspectives they give us reveal little new information each time, making it for a partially borring experience. Vantage Point gets a 5 out of 10.
